LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY - Southern Baptist Minister Chuck Shoemaker mounted the pulpit Sunday morning and opened up to John 3:16. He read the infamous verse that nearly every Christian knows, because that is the only thing some Christians ever hear, and such was the case at Pastor Shoemaker's church.
For God so loved the world, that he he gave his only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Pastor continued to preach a salvation message to a church filled with Christians who are already saved. After about thirty minutes, the sermon was over, and an invitation was made. Nobody came forward for salvation, but there were several re-dedications.
After the service, members of the Southern Baptist Convention awarded Pastor Chuck Shoemaker with a glorious trophy for preaching a message of salvation for the 100th consecutive time. It set a new record in the Southern Baptist Church.
Members of the church arose and applauded as their Pastor received the award. Some members of the congregation started chanting, "Speech! Speech! Speech!" The pastor went back to the pulpit, and everyone quieted down.
The pastor mounted the pulpit again, and said, "Dearly beloved, I have only one thing to say. 'For God so loved the world, that he he gave his only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.'" He continued for another 10 minutes preaching another salvation message.
Within just a few minutes, he broke his previous record of 100 consecutive salvation messages and added another one under his belt. Pastor Chuck Shoemaker is the "Undisputed, Heavy Weight, Champion of the Salvation Message in the World" - at least that is what is written on his trophy.
